Keep in mind: Deactivating your account is not the same point as deleting your Facebook account This process just suspends your account and does not remove it permanently.

How To Permanently Deactivate A Facebook Account
1. Log into your Facebook account.
2. Click the Account Menu switch that lies in the upper-right hand corner of the screen.
3. Select Settings from the drop-down menu.
4. Select Protection in the left-hand column.
5. Select Deactivate your account, then follow the actions to finish the process.
Keep in mind: After you have actually finished this process, you will no longer be searchable neither noticeable to friends on Facebook.
